THE FLIGHT, EXPLAINED

From coast to cosmos.

This is an independent educational simulation. The unbranded three-core vehicle follows publicly documented Falcon Heavy proportions. Flight guidance, timing, recovery and performance are approximate, not an operational flight model.

Why three cores?

Three nine-engine first-stage cores lift a heavy payload. Dropping the side boosters reduces mass; the center core burns longer before the upper stage takes over.

What is Max Q?

Dynamic pressure is ½ρv². Speed increases while air density falls. Their combination creates a peak aerodynamic load; the engines throttle through it.

Return before orbit

The boosters stay suborbital. A boostback burn reverses downrange motion, an entry burn slows descent, and a landing burn brings them to rest. The upper stage keeps going.

Orbit means sideways speed

Altitude alone doesn’t establish orbit. The upper stage builds horizontal velocity so that falling around Earth keeps missing the surface. This demonstration simplifies orbital insertion.

Mission events appear as captions only. Generated spoken announcements are disabled. Creator-authorized countdown and launch recordings play at natural speed in ground views. Their two channels are effectively identical; directional or binaural audio is not simulated. Engine sound follows an approximate 343 m/s travel delay, adjusted for the delay already present in the recording. Spectator roar is brought about two seconds earlier for cinematic pacing while retaining a noticeable delay. Accelerated flight and other cameras use synthesized launch ambience. Captions describe simulator events and do not transcribe the supplied recordings. The T−10 pad-water cue and T−6 igniter sparks are cinematic additions for the authored vehicle, not an exact operational procedure.

EXPERIENCE SETTINGS

Make yourself comfortable.

Audio starts when you begin the countdown or select Enable audio.

Clouds, venting and water pause while reduced motion is enabled.

All presets use GPU rendering. HD increases resolution, antialiasing, shadows, texture filtering and volume detail. Adaptive and HD lower quality when sustained frame time rises. Pad orbit is manual: drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom.
